SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — People both big and small gathered in front of the beach house at Lincoln State Park to initiate the first hike of the year.
First Day Hike is a national event that the park has participated in for eight years. This year brought more visitors than expected.
“So early on it was, you know, pretty good, 60 or 80, depending on the weather,” says Lincoln State Park Interpretive Naturalist Michael Crews. “I mean, we had a negative six year, one year where we only had about ten people show up, but they did show up. And, but since it’s nice and sunny today, we’ll probably have over 100 close to 250 people.”…
