According to the Henderson Police Department, as officers approached the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of marijuana. Initially, the driver admitted to the officers that there was a firearm in the glove compartment. Upon a further search of the interior of the vehicle and the bed of the truck, officers uncovered much more. The Henderson Police Department says that officers first located a rifle-style firearm on the floorboard and then another handgun in the center console safe. The odor of marijuana was still strong, and when officers opened the tailgate, they discovered multiple large black trash bags. The officers with the Henderson Police Department then asked the driver what was in the trash bags, and he admitted that there was approximately 200 pounds of marijuana in them. The driver also told officers that he was transporting marijuana from Indiana to Kentucky.
The fact that this occurred in a school zone can be startling. Henderson Police says that this is a “sobering reminder of why proactive patrols are so vital.” This case remains an ongoing investigation. Thank you to the Henderson Police Department for keeping our streets and children safe…
