Indiana’s oldest living veteran, Irving LeVine, celebrates 104th birthday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Indiana’s oldest living veteran marked a rare milestone Wednesday, celebrating his 104th birthday surrounded by friends, family and community leaders in Evansville.

Irving LeVine, a World War II veteran, was honored with a formal proclamation from Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry, officially declaring Feb. 4, 2026, as “Sergeant Irving LeVine Day.”

During World War II, LeVine served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, operating long-range navigational systems from a ground-based radio station that guided aircraft flying critical supply missions from India to China over the Himalayan Mountains — a route known as “the Hump.”…
