Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare report mental health access up by 42%

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare is reporting early success with Indiana’s new certified community behavioral health clinic model.

In its first-year impact report, the organization says access to mental health and crisis services has expanded significantly. Average wait times for a first appointment dropped from 21 days in 2022 to just 3 days this year.

Last year alone, more than 8,000 people used their crisis services. Southwestern says its teams work alongside law enforcement but the goal is to get people into treatment not into an emergency room or a jail cell…
