HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — The Henderson Police Department is alerting residents to an ongoing scam targeting members of the community, urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudulent payment requests.
According to police, scammers are posing as legitimate businesses or government agencies and contacting individuals with claims involving overdue bills, refunds, prizes or promotions, or even threats of legal action. In these cases, victims are instructed to make payments using gift cards and then provide the card’s redeemable codes over the phone or through an app-based system.
