Harrison High School issues statement on student walkout protests

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- Recent protests in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement-related shootings have popped up across the country, including in the Tri-State– but officials with the EVSC say students wishing to protest cannot do so during class time.

Officials at the EVSC and Harrison High School say walk-outs during the school day are not allowed and that students who want to protest must do so before or after school hours. This comes as several EVSC students were planning to organize what they call ‘ICE walk-outs’. School officials say leaving class without permission will count as an absence for students, and that any protest must stay peaceful and not disrupt learning.
