EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The University of Evansville has named Joe Atkinson, the current Communications Director for the City of Evansville, as the new Director of Evansville NewsLab.
The appointment marks a homecoming for Atkinson, a UE alumnus and former faculty member who has served in Mayor Stephanie Terry’s administration since 2024. In his new role, Atkinson will lead a “ChangeLab” initiative dedicated to revitalizing civic journalism and strengthening the connection between local media and the public.
