EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Honor Flight of Southern Indiana spent the day calling veterans to offer them a free flight to the nation’s capital.
The Honor Flight Network is a national non-profit that flies veterans to visit memorials in Washington D.C. at no cost. Honor Flight kicked off this year’s flight preparations with a phone blitz in which they called the next age-appropriate veterans in their database to see if the vets want to take their free honor flight.
“We take 83 veterans on each flight and also 83 trip chaperones that we call guardians and then our staff,” says Training Officer Monica Centers. “It’s a full flight, it’s a great time, and the majority of veterans we take now are Vietnam veterans.”…
