Records: Evansville animal control officer facing animal cruelty charge

EVANSVILLE — An Evansville animal control officer tasked with protecting animals from neglect and cruelty has been accused of leaving a cat to die a slow, agonizing death alone in a city-owned trap.

The officer, Kenneth Joseph Kamp, could soon strike an agreement with prosecutors that would see the case against him dismissed should he successfully complete a pretrial diversion program.

The Evansville Police Department’s animal welfare unit investigated the case and concluded that the incident “arose to the level of criminal abandonment and neglect,” court documents state…
