HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed a bill authored in response to the murder of an Evansville realtor that will increase notification requirements for crime victims prior to the release of a violent felon.
House Bill 1250 previously passed unanimously through the Indiana House and Senate chambers. The bill requires the department of correction to electronically notify the county sheriff, prosecuting attorney and chief of police of the county or municipality where the department will release a serious violent felon at least seven days in advance.
