EPD: Woman arrested after two-vehicle crash Saturday night

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville Police say a woman from Henderson was arrested Saturday night, after police say, she was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Covert and Kentucky Avenues. Police say the crash was so intense that the cars involved were unrecognizable in make or model from the front.

One of the drivers, 31-year-old Cassie Winkler of Henderson, had to be removed from her car by firefighters. Police on the scene say that Winker had a heavy odor of alcohol and that they spotted two bottles of alcohol on the floor board of her car.

Police determined later that Winkler had been driving west on Covert Avenue through a green light when she failed to yield her left turn as she turned south on Kentucky Avenue. As she made her turn, she pulled into the path of a car that was driving east on Covert…
