City ordinance could make microchips mandatory in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A proposed change to an Evansville city ordinance could make microchipping your pet mandatory.

The original ordinance required pets to have a city license tag on their collars. Officials say an increase of loose pets in the city without the tag  made it harder to track down the owners.

Evansville Animal Care and Control says instead of using the city tags, making a micro-chip a requirement will make it easier to get pets back into their homes…
