Several southern Indiana Wendy’s locations closing

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Wendy’s restaurants in Vanderburgh, Gibson and Dubois counties make the growing list of stores closing up shop. An employee at the east side location on Burkhardt Road confirms rumors of its closures, saying he was informed March 11 would be the last day of operation.

Eyewitness news has also confirmed the Princeton Wendy’s is closed. News of the closures in Dubois County had some Wendy’s regulars disappointed. “It’s kind of a little bit rougher of a go because there ain’t much food options around here besides a gas station and two other places,” explains Simon Held. Held and his co-worker, James Carie, frequent the Ferdinand location for their lunch breaks, but say now their team will have to adjust their routine.

“It’s not that upsetting,” says Carie, “because it’s next to the interstate and we work for a diesel company and a lot of our drivers come in here. This is where we usually see them at, so it kind of sucks that they have to go further. It’s hard to park back there for their trucks, it’s the only spot really.” Held adds, “Kind of the same thing, really, they can only really park over here on the side of the road, and get food, so it’s just another option, or more of a headache for them at the end of the day.”

A manager with Wendy’s in Dale, Indiana tells us the Ferdinand location will close on March 15. The Huntingburg store is set to close at the end of the night on March 11.”I know a lot of people in there that, because we come here quite often for lunch,” says Held, “and lot of them people have been working hard trying to keep a job, and now they’re just going to get shut out and have to go somewhere else.”…
