EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville police say one man is under arrest after officers say he was driving while intoxicated along U.S. Highway 41.
Around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, an EPD officer was patrolling near U.S. 41 and Virginia Street when he noticed the driver of a black 2004 Pontiac Vibe weaving in and out of the lanes. The officer stopped him at U.S. 41 and Lincoln Avenue.
The officer says he could immediately smell alcohol on the driver, 32-year-old Profaite Eloi of Evansville. He told officers that he hadn’t had any alcohol prior to driving. Police say he also didn’t have his driver`s license or any proof of insurance.
EPD says Profaite failed a field sobriety test and and when he took a portable breath test, he blew at 0.307, which is well over the legal limit of 0.08…
