“A very dangerous situation for law enforcement”: Evansville man sentenced in Posey County police chase

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man has been sentenced for reportedly fleeing from law enforcement and driving recklessly in Posey County last year.

Zachery Lee Ricketts, 23, was sentenced to four years in prison after he plead guilty to resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. Court documents also show Ricketts was on felony probation at the time of the incident.

A probable cause affidavit says a Posey County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop in December of 2025 after seeing Ricketts driving a vehicle with an expired license plate. Ricketts reportedly fled east on State Road 62 with his headlights off and traveled at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour construction zone, nearly causing multiple head-on collisions.

“Ricketts created a very dangerous situation for law enforcement and other folks on the road that evening,” said Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers. “Thankfully, no one was harmed during this incident, I believe in large part due to Sheriff [Tom] Latham’s decision to safely terminate the pursuit.”…
