Rising fuel price concerns for Tri-State Food Bank

EVANSVILLE, IN . — The Tri-State Food Bank says it typically has just two to four weeks’ worth of food on hand at any given time—and while it has avoided the worst of rising fuel costs so far, that may soon change.

Officials tell 44News the organization has been somewhat protected thanks to partnerships with Feeding America, large-scale food producers, and commercial vendors. But that cushion may not last much longer.

“We right now are insulated by our relationship with Feeding America as well as large-scale food producers and commercial vendors,” said Joe Klemczewski, resource development officer for the Tri-State Food Bank. “But that’s going to hit us very shortly—in the next week or two, we’re going to see our costs go up pretty dramatically.”…
