Vanderburgh County and City officials warn of scam targeting Area Plan applicants

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Vanderburgh County Commissioners and Mayor Stephanie Terry issued a joint alert regarding a scam targeting individuals and businesses involved in the Area Plan Commission (APC) site review process.

Officials stated that scammers are using publicly available information from APC filings, such as applicant names, email addresses, and specific project details, to pose as commission representatives. These fraudulent communications often include invoices for significant sums of money and may claim that payment is required to “expedite” the application or review process.
