Evansville Wartime Museum celebrates Rosie the Riveter Day with 100-year-old Rosie

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The Evansville Wartime Museum celebrated Rosie the Riveter Day with a special guest: a 100-year-old Evansville native who served as an actual Rosie during World War II.

As U.S. soldiers fought overseas, Lucy Wahnsiedler worked on planes just like the P-47 that can be found inside of the museum. Many attending dressed up in Rosie-inspired attire.

They had the opportunity to meet and listen to Wahnsiedler about how women helped the nation during the war. Organizers say today’s event honors the women like Wahnsiedler who served on the American home front during the war.
