Evansville man arrested for allegedly assaulting K9 officer during standoff

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A Vanderburgh County man faces multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted a Vanderburgh County K9 officer during an arrest late Tuesday night.

Deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Upper Mt. Vernon Road around 10:25 p.m. following reports of a victim seeking help. The investigation led authorities to a pole barn in the 7100 block of Upper Mt. Vernon Road, where 41-year-old William Burdette had barricaded himself inside.
