Evansville man arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) arrested a man who deputies identified as a registered sex offender.

VCSO says on or around April 15 at 9:45 p.m. in the 600 block of Madison Avenue in Evansville, units were dispatched to a disorderly conduct case. The caller stated an intoxicated man was outside on the porch, screaming and yelling for the caller to open the door. The reporter also said he did not live there but was claiming to have food in the home. She also claimed he had been outside for two hours and had faked a seizure.

VCSO says on arrival, deputies made contact with the man, identified as James Keeler. Deputies say Keeler was unsteady on his feet, smelled strongly of alcohol, had erratic and sometimes aggressive speech and repeatedly attempted to leave. As authorities ran Keeler’s information, they discovered he was a registered sex offender. Authorities then say they found that his address in a database did not match the address on his ID.

Deputies say they asked Keeler his address and Keeler pointed to their computer. Authorities say RMS showed his address on Underhill, but his license said South Kentucky Avenue. Keeler admitted he had moved to the Underhill address after being kicked out of the sober living house on Kentucky. Authorities say they agreed that Keeler was violating the registration by not having an ID with his correct address. Additionally, it was found that Keeler has a prior conviction for Failure to Register from December 19, 2019…
