EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is a place where the smallest patients require constant attention—from feeding and diaper changes to the essential comfort of human touch. At Ascension Saint Vincent in Evansville, a dedicated group of volunteer “Cuddlers” helps ensure that infants receive the nurturing care vital to their development.
Suzanne Selby has been serving as a NICU Cuddler volunteer for four years, and she describes the role as deeply rewarding. “It’s an awesome experience,” Selby said. “I look forward to it every week, and when I’m not here, I really miss it. I feel like I’m supposed to be with my babies.”
