Owensboro man faces five murder charges in connection with 1984 homicide case in Southern Illinois

MASSAC COUNTY, Ill. — Investigators are continuing efforts working a 42-year-old homicide case out of Massac County. On Friday, county officials provided a major update on the case of Lisa Ann Carnes.

The Massac County State’s Attorney said a Massac County Grand Jury returned a five county indictment, charging George Bradfield with five counts of murder.

The state’s attorney said Bradfield was believed to be working in Joppa at the time of the death of Lisa Ann Carnes. Bradfield was arrested and taken to the Daviess County Jail in Owensboro.

Federal and state authorities have asked for many years for information from the public in connection to the decades-old homicide of 26-year-old Lisa Ann Carnes, whose death in 1984 remains unsolved. Investigators also have continuously investigated the case for four-plus decades…
