Honor Flight trip to D.C. returns to warm welcome in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – They are the local heroes who served our country proudly during times of war.

The Honor Flight group of Southern Indiana has been making it their mission to help these veterans get to Washington, DC to see the memorials dedicated to those heroes and to thank them for their courage and their sacrifice.

Saturday night, a large crowd of family and friends were on hand at Evansville Regional Airport to welcome back those veterans after their trip to Washington. Many of them had welcome home signs and pictures of their veterans from when they served our country. Indiana State Police troopers from the Evansville Post were also on hand Saturday night to welcome home those veterans.

This was the 20th Honor Flight from Evansville to D.C. Honor Flight of Southern Indiana is the 133rd hub within the network and serves the Indiana counties of Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick.

These experiences of going to Washington, DC are made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers.
