Over 100 EVSC students matched with employers at OptIN event

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Some EVSC students were matched with some employers at the Old National Events Plaza.

Over 100 EVSC students signed employment contracts with EVSC’s OptIN program on May 6. According to the EVSC, the OptIN program, which stands for Opportunities through Partnerships that Transform and Inspire, is intended to educate students on their options – either post-secondary or career – that best match their interests and strengths.

“Our economy, locally dominated by healthcare manufacturing in construction traits,” says EVSC OptIN Executive Director B.J. Watts. “Those are the few things that we focus on, but students have an interest where we will always meet them where they are.”

This year, 130 high school seniors signed with several different companies within healthcare, industry, or the service. Some students say they applied for their jobs in the fall and found out they were going to be hired this spring. Many say they thank their school’s faculty for their support…
