Joint task force seizes fentanyl, handgun in Vanderburgh County raid

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A joint investigation by the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force led to the arrest of two individuals Tuesday after detectives uncovered fentanyl and a loaded firearm from a hotel room.

The investigation began May 12, 2026, when detectives received information that 35-year-old Carl Ashley Allen Jr. was selling fentanyl. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives attempted to stop Allen in the hotel lobby. Authorities said Allen fled on foot, throwing more than $900 in cash and a plastic bag containing over 17 grams of suspected fentanyl into the air before being taken into custody.

Upon executing the warrant in the hotel room, detectives encountered 24-year-old Miah-Reighn Franklin, who also attempted to flee further into the room and had to be physically restrained. Franklin was found to have active felony warrants for possession of methamphetamine in Warrick County and a parole violation in Kentucky…
