A former Posey County Solid Waste employee is heading to prison after admitting to stealing more than $25,000 from the county. The Posey County Prosecutor’s Office says 46-year-old Jennifer Tinsley was sentenced to two years with the Indiana Department of Correction. Under the sentence, she’ll serve the first six months in prison, with the remainder on Posey County Community Corrections. According to officials, Tinsley pleaded guilty to stealing funds from Posey County Solid Waste while employed there during 2023 and 2024. Investigators with the Indiana State Police and the Indiana State Board of Accounts say Tinsley received more than $21,000 in unauthorized checks, along with more than $4,500 in fraudulent payroll checks. Authorities say the total loss amounted to just over $25,850. Court records show Tinsley admitted to investigators that she forged vendor and payroll checks written to herself.
