Recent Wilson Prep graduate Reginald Holmes Jr.’s cheerful, upbeat attitude might not have seemed apparent to his opponents on the football field, where the 6-foot-4, 380-pound (mostly) lineman is a fierce competitor.
As a two-way starter, “Big Reggie” was literally a big part of the Tigers’ success the past three seasons, culminating in the fourth-year program’s NCHSAA 1-A championship last December. He found himself in demand with multiple offers and even more interest when it came time to choose a college destination but Holmes finally settled on Methodist University in Fayetteville.
“Because most of my family lived down there in Fayetteville, and I’m a family man,” Holmes explained of his decision. “I wanted to go be around my family more, because I haven’t been around my family in a couple years, so I was like, you know what? I’m going to go to Methodist. They’re also giving me a good chance, I’m doing two sports down there.”…
