Cumberland County Opens Cooling Centers as Triple-Digit Heat Arrives

Cumberland County opened cooling centers as temperatures climb into triple digits this week. The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, per the Cumberland Country website. Heat index values will hit 103 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Several government buildings will serve as cooling centers for residents who lack air conditioning. These spots include the Department of Public Health, Department of Social Services, all eight libraries, and recreation center lobbies.
