Fayetteville to Install $500K Traffic Light at Dangerous Intersection on Morganton

The N.C. Department of Transportation will put up a $500,000 traffic signal where Northview Drive meets Morganton Road in Fayetteville. NCDOT made the announcement on Monday, Aug. 24, via a press release.

Work was supposed to start on Tuesday, Aug. 25. An unexpected delay changed those plans. NCDOT says it’s waiting on metal mast poles to arrive from the manufacturer later this year before crews can put in the new signal. They’ll also be closing off Dundee Road to Morganton Road, turning it into a cul-de-sac.

“Before the signal can be installed, the department must permanently remove Dundee Road’s access to Morganton Road, because its caddy-corner intersection is too close to Northview Drive for the new signal to function properly. As part of this change, one end of Dundee Road will be converted into a cul-de-sac, allowing drivers to turn around and reach Morganton Road at another nearby intersection.”…
