North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson says the U.S. Department of Justice is looking into cryptocurrency kiosk companies after a Johnston County woman lost thousands of dollars in a recent scam.
“Investigation underway as we speak,” Jackson said, according to WRAL.
The woman, who doesn’t want to be identified, told WRAL she lost all her savings after feeding the cash into a kiosk inside a gas station. Scammers posing as local law enforcement officers told her the money would pay for her safe release from police custody.
