Cumberland County Emergency Services’ 911 Communications Center has kept its status as the world’s 21st Medical Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE), the county announced on Monday, Oct. 26. Few emergency communication centers around the world hold this title.
The renewed accreditation proves the 911 division meets international standards for emergency medical dispatch, according to the Cumberland County government. Call takers answer emergency calls with protocols built on evidence and with steady quality checks. Trained telecommunicators run the center.
The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) has named the center triple accredited.
