OAKBORO, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Oakboro Police arrest a Fayetteville man on a host of charges after a high-speed late-night chase in two counties Monday night.
Derrick Douglas, 39, is detained on a $35,000 secure bond at the Stanly County Jail.
An Oakboro K-9 unit conducting traffic enforcement saw a Toyota 4Runner speeding. The car had an Indiana registration plate and drove 57 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Police initiated a traffic stop and pulled the driver over near Glenwood Drive. As police approached the vehicle, the driver fled, and an additional unit came to the scene.
The driver allegedly passed multiple vehicles on a double yellow line on N.C. 742.
Stanly County Communications advised N.C. State Highway Patrol and Anson County Sheriff’s Office that the chase headed toward Anson County.

Douglas allegedly drove more than 110 miles per hour. He entered Anson County and continued south. Anson County advised they were in position with stop sticks (tire deflation devices). After an 11-mile pursuit, the driver stopped just before striking the stop sticks in the middle of N.C. 742.
