Hi foodies,

What food should face-off in a March Madness-style tournament this spring?

Last year, Taco Arepa food truck was crowned the winner of Fayetteville Taco Madness, and a couple months after that, readers ranked the top 10 best burger spots, of which R Burger came out on top.

In 2022, we endeavored to find the best local chicken wings. The Creek Bar & Grill, which has since closed, was named the Fayetteville Wing Madness champion.

I have a few ideas for this year’s tournament:

Hot dogs are having a moment in Fayetteville right now. A Raeford Road hot dog cart has become wildly popular, and a local hot dog chain recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Ramen is served at quite a few local spots, and foodies seem to each have a favorite. It would be fun to take a deep dive.

Who doesn’t love a good sandwich? Anything served between two pieces of bread would qualify for this category. Not hot dogs, please.

Soul food is big in Fayetteville, and fried chicken is a staple of the cuisine. I’m curious to see what fried chicken is Fayetteville’s favorite.
