New in the Fayetteville area: restaurants, food trucks, grocery store and a cocktail bar

The Fayetteville-area food scene is off to a busy start this year.

Among the January openings in Fayetteville were a wholesale grocery and kitchen supply store, a vegan restaurant, a speakeasy-style bar, two food trucks and a fast-food stop. Hope Mills saw the openings of a chicken wing chain and a Mexican eatery.

Open: The Vegan Spot

The Vegan Spot opened Jan. 23 at 3421 Murchison Road in Fayetteville’s Murchison Marketplace shopping center. The restaurant, which began as a food truck by the same name, serves plant-based versions of pizza, sandwiches, burgers, chicken tenders and chocolate chip cookies.

Business hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday.

Open: Mister Taco

Mexican restaurant Mister Taco opened Jan. 22 at 3061 N. Main St., Suite 103 at Dogwood Plaza in Hope Mills.

Located at the former NY City Donuts, next to the T-Mobile store, the eatery offers a variety of tacos, including quesabirria tacos made with stewed beef, mozzarella, cilantro and onions, griddled in a corn tortilla and served with a small side of the consomme in which the meat is stewed.
