Dr. Kristin Du Mez, a New York Times bestselling author and professor at Calvin University, will give two lectures on February 6. These lectures are part of the annual Staley Lecture Series at Campbell University and the College of Arts & Sciences. The topics are ‘Jesus, John Wayne and the Evangelical Reckoning’ and ‘Christian Nationalism and American Democracy.’ They will take place at Butler Chapel on Campbellās main campus.
The Staley Lecture Series, sponsored by the Thomas F. Staley Foundation and the Staley Distinguished Scholar Lecture Program, aims to invite experts in religious studies. The lectures are open to the public and aim to promote learning and practical application.
The first lecture will discuss the development of American evangelicalism as a religious, cultural, and political movement. The second lecture will analyze data from American Christians and discuss its impact on democracy.
