Active-duty soldier dies after his motorcycle collides with pickup truck, North Carolina police say

ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) — An active duty U.S. soldier from Hope Mills died after a motorcycle crash this weekend in Aberdeen, police said.

The crash happened just before 4:10 p.m. Saturday along U.S. 15/501 just north of the intersection with U.S. 1, also known as North Sandhills Boulevard, Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis told CBS 17

A 2017 Suzuki GSX R-1000 was being driven north on U.S. 15/501 by Rafael Dejesus Flores Jr., 23, near Dick’s Sporting Goods, Chavis said, following a report initially published by the Sandhills Sentinel.

Meanwhile, a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck was heading south on the same road, he said.
