Fayetteville Korean fusion restaurant to close this month

Vanessa McKoy, who first made a name for herself in the Fayetteville food scene with a food truck serving Korean-inspired street food like hot dogs and Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, plans to close her restaurant on Bragg Boulevard.

McKoy, 35, said she’s closing the restaurant because 12-hour days working at the restaurant are difficult to handle while pregnant with her fifth child.

“It’s a lot on my body,” she said. “I’m sick all the time.”

McKoy said that after closing the restaurant, she plans to return to running her food truck full time, which is more profitable than the restaurant and requires fewer working hours.

She said she’s sad to take away the dining experience for patrons, but glad to be back on the food truck. Overall, McKoy said, she’s grateful for the community’s support.

“I’m kinda sad and kinda happy,” she said. “I want to thank all my loyal customers who supported me.”

What’s next for Kwon’s Kitchen?

McKoy said Kwon’s Kitchen Korean Fusion Cuisine food truck will soon operate from such Fayetteville-area locations as the Haymount Truck Stop, along Raeford Road, on Ramsey Street and in Hope Mills and Eastover.
