A man was injured in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday after an attempted robbery at a city pharmacy, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release.
According to Officer Alexandria Pecia, officers were called to the Ramsey Street CVS for an armed robbery at 12:39 p.m. and found that the robber had made off with money that contained a GPS tracker, the release said.
Police said that when officers encountered the individual on the train tracks near Chance and Mechanic streets, shots were exchanged between a police officer and the man about 12:52 p.m. and the individual was struck. The man’s name was not released.

The release said a handgun was recovered at the scene and the man was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.
The State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to conduct a probe into the shooting, according to the release.
