The intersection at S. Dunn St. and E. Parrish Drive in Benson will become a 4-way stop this week. Additional stop signs will be installed on Friday, February 9, 2024. Benson Commissioners approved this change at their January meeting. Drivers should take note of this change.

Also, the intersection at Main Street (NC50) and Wall Street (US301) will close for roundabout construction. The closure will start on Monday, February 12, 2024, if weather permits. The start date was delayed due to a lack of detour signs.

NCDOT contractors have started preparing the area. After the intersection closes, the roundabout construction will take about 60 days. Detour signs will be put up to guide drivers around the construction site.

Local traffic will be rerouted via Parrish and Church streets. Commercial truck traffic will use NC27, NC50, NC242, I-40, and I-95. Some parking at Benton Square and NAPA will be affected, but most downtown parking will be available during the closure.

All Main Street businesses can be reached via Parrish and Church streets. More updates on the roundabout construction will be provided as needed.
