The Cape Fear region will see a brief return to spring-like temperatures. We won’t be able to enjoy the outdoors all weekend, however
Mild, but wet, conditions appear likely this weekend into early next week for Fayetteville. Once again, cold air will chase, but not catch, the moisture, giving us a soggy, rather than snowy, outlook.
Here’s the setup
High pressure has slipped off the coast, bringing a mild southern flow to the Carolinas. Rather than the brisk northerly breeze that held Fayetteville in the low 50s recently, daily highs will climb into the 60s, then low 70s by the weekend.
Friday looks pleasant, with highs in the mid-60s and partly cloudy skies. Lows should hold in the mid- to upper 50s.
The weekend
Saturday will be much warmer, despite increasing clouds. Fayetteville will see highs in the mid-70s, with some upper 70s further south. Clouds will continue to build, but for now, it looks like we’ll stay dry into the evening.
Increased clouds return as well, especially as a slow-moving cold front approaches. Look for southwest winds to pick up as the front approaches. Lows Saturday night may stay above 60.
