The Camel Accelerator, a 10-week program for entrepreneurs, has accepted 25 companies into its third cohort. Over 45 students will assist business founders in growing their ventures. Among the selected is Mary Smalling, founder of Banks Bed and Breakfast in Garner, who is eager to gain new insights into her business.
The Camel Accelerator was established in 2021 with grants from N.C. IDEA and the RTP Foundation. It aims to support underrepresented founders by providing tools and knowledge to expand their businesses. Alissa Sclafani, a senior marketing major from Cary, highlighted the growth opportunities that come with working with startups.
The program uses a hybrid structure, with weekly Zoom sessions and in-person meetings at Campbell’s main campus. This has attracted a diverse group of founders from across North Carolina.
Scott Kelly, director of entrepreneurship for the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, noted the growth of the Camel Accelerator each year. He commended this year’s cohort for continuing the tradition of mutual learning and growth.
