A recent Averett College Graduate is remembered after dying in a tragic accident

ABC News 11 reports that a recently graduated Averett College student, Jamael Carter Jr., died in a single-car crash early Thursday morning in Fayetteville, NC. The accident happened at Elliott Farm and Johnson Farm Roads. Police revealed the roads were slick, and he hit multiple trees and died instantly.

WDBJ7 Danville reveals that the class of ‘24 graduate was a four-year member of the Cougars team and was a leader on campus. Averett University issued the following statement:

“We send our condolences to Melo’s family and our thoughts are with everyone who knew him during this difficult time.”

This tragic news comes as Virginians mourn 15-year-old Jakolbi Taylor a standout basketball player and honor student at Patrick Henry High School, who was shot and killed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
