Man jailed in fatal shooting of Fort Liberty soldier outside Ramsey Street hookah lounge

A Fayetteville man was arrested Tuesday night in the fatal May shooting of a Fort Liberty soldier outside a Ramsey Street hookah lounge.

Jaivion Omari Robinson, 22, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the May 4 slaying of Jonah Malik Taylor , 21.

According to search warrants, Taylor died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after being taken there by personal vehicle.

Police dispatchers received the first 911 call about 2:30 a.m., according to court records. The caller said he was in a parking lot near the Anubis Hookah Lounge on Ramsey Street when he heard the gunshots and saw several vehicles speeding from the area, court records state.

The caller said the shooter, who left the scene in a gray vehicle, was wearing a green hat and a white jumpsuit and was armed with a large silver handgun, according to the warrant.

Two .45-caliber shell casings, drops of blood, a gold necklace and a Don Julio liquor bottle were found at the scene, the warrant states.
