South View’s all-around softball dynamo lands with ACC’s reigning champion

South View junior pitcher Jordynn Parnell announced her college decision via X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday, and she’s staying close to home with the reigning ACC champion.

Parnell’s 1.24 ERA ranked fourth in the 4A East last season while her 181 strikeouts ranked fifth. She also posted 11 wins, good for No. 10 in the 4A East.

“Anytime she’s in the circle, we have a great chance at winning,” South View coach Phil Dean told The Fayetteville Observer last season as the Tigers went 19-5 overall, 12-2 for a second-straight second-place finish in the United 8 Conference with the sophomore on the mound.

In her freshman year, Parnell posted even bigger stats. Her 0.65 ERA ranked No. 10 and her 193 strikeouts were No. 18 in the state across all classifications. She also put up a 14-4 record as the Tigers went 20-5, 12-2.
