Annual Peanut Festival takes place in Dublin this weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The town of Dublin hosted their annual Peanut Festival on Saturday. It took place at the Dublin Elementary Center. This tradition started in 1992 when the city needed a way to raise funds to build a gymnasium for Dublin Elementary School. They held a peanut festival to earn money and honor their agricultural heritage. It was successful and became an annual tradition. Now it’s always held on the third Saturday of September and draws crowds of over 3,000.
