Deputies release identity of man who escaped police custody at a Fayetteville hospital

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A search for a person who escaped police custody on Thursday night has now extended into Saturday in Fayetteville.

Daiqone Michael Hoffman, 30 of Wade, was arrested by police Wednesday due to outstanding warrants for larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and breaking and entering a motor vehicle. He is also wanted for probation violation and kidnapping.

According to deputies, Hoffman escaped custody around 9:45 p.m. Thursday during a medical evaluation at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Deputies describe Hoffman as 6 feet and 200 pounds with several body tattoos, including “KUSH” on his right forearm and “MANE” on his left forearm. According to the description, he has dreadlocks with white tips.

He was last seen at 3 a.m. on foot wearing a white t-shirt, gray shorts and white sneakers near a Motel 6 on Bragg Boulevard.
