Pharaoh’s Legacy closed for repairs after fire early Wednesday damages kitchen

A fire early Wednesday morning off Rockfish Road has caused damage to businesses in the area, including a popular Mediterranean restaurant that’s now closed for repairs, the owner said.

“We know that we are going to be shot for some time. Nothing I can do,” said Ronnie Askharon, 37, owner of Pharaoh’s Legacy on Thursday as his employees were inside the restaurant cleaning up. “We were lucky because we’re right next to the Stoney Point Fire Department.”

Askharon said he learned of the fire at 4:20 a.m. when his security company called to tell him the fire department would be busting down a door of the restaurant to contain the fire he said started in his kitchen. He said the fire department responded to the eatery’s fire alarm and passing drivers reported seeing smoke.

Askharon said when he arrived at the, the fire department advised him to stay away from the building.

“All that I could do was just sit there in shock and then wait for clearance or anything to get inside and see what’s happening,” Askharon said. “We got inside and we found the entire back kitchen area completely damaged.”
