A Rhode Island police department shared dash cam video of a sideswipe crash involving a semi truck and a new police “Special Response Vehicle.”
“Several days ago on October 29th, two of our officers were sideswiped by a tractor trailer while delivering a new Special Response Vehicle from the manufacturer in St. Augustine, FL back home to Newport. The accident took place in North Carolina and thankfully both officers are faring well. The same cannot be said for this specially designed van, which was purpose-built for use during active threat situations and emergencies. A Dunn, North Carolina Police Officer happened to be traveling behind the tractor trailer at the time of the crash and captured the accident on dash cam,” Newport RI Police Department said.
