City of Fayetteville representatives will host a public meeting Thursday to update residents on the city’s Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant application for the Murchison Road Corridor.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Senior Center East, 917 Washington Drive.
The grant is through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and leverages public and private dollars to transform struggling neighborhoods into “choice neighborhoods” with public or HUD-assisted housing.
Despite not being one of the final grant recipients, city officials received feedback from HUD officials during a late September meeting and will share that feedback at the meeting, said Nelson Soriano, a neighborhood engagement manager for the city.
“Some of the feedback provided centers around how to paint a better picture of the work already done by the city and the partnerships moving forward,” he said.
Fayetteville was one of 28 applicants for the grant, and later became one of the top nine cities for consideration that included a site visit from HUD, Soriano said.
