FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — New financial records show that a Raleigh-based contractor pocketed millions of dollars before abandoning projects in Fayetteville.
The City of Fayetteville contracted Mohammad Construction LLC., to complete four separate projects including a more than $11 million tennis center, sidewalks, and community center.

Earlier this year, Mohammad suddenly quit working on the projects and informed the city of it through e-mail. An invoice from the City of Fayetteville shows that Mohammad was paid more than $5 million before leaving the projects incomplete.
“We paid him for the work that’s been completed, and when he decided that it was in his best interest to not show up for work, we proceeded to work with a bonding company to find another contractor,” Loren Bymer, spokesperson for the City of Fayetteville, said earlier this year.
CBS17 tried to reach Mohammad Construction by phone, but all of the numbers associated with the company no longer work or don’t have voicemail setup.
